Frequently Asked Questions

Still Need Convincing?
Here's Linda's story
In April (2024), I saw a post on Facebook about a free women’s networking event
happening at Piada Italian Street Food in Morrisville. I am shy and introverted, and
networking always overwhelmed me.
I wasn’t comfortable with the groups I networked with in the past, so I decided to try this
one. I had nothing to lose, and it was reassuring to know that only women would be
there.
I met Debi Epler first. I walked in and nervously confirmed with her that I didn’t have to
belong to any specific group to attend. She immediately welcomed me. I also met
Michelle Myers, who founded Triangle Womens Network, and Melissa Lawson, TWN’s
admin assistant.
The atmosphere was unbelievably comfortable. I felt accepted right away. I liked that it
was casual and unstructured. Because we weren’t shaking hands and trading business
cards competitively, I felt like I was among friends.
I was. So I kept going to the meetings whenever I had time.
The women that go to TWN meetings are warm and welcoming. They are authentic and
show up as themselves, not in phony “business mode.” It is a positive, supportive group
where we encourage each other and lift each other up.
Nobody competes and everyone helps. If we meet others in our same fields, it’s a
chance to compare notes or collaborate. We don’t try to beat each other out.
We introduce ourselves with a 30 second “elevator pitch” like other networking
organizations, but nobody feels judged., It isn’t that kind of atmosphere.
It’s an easy way to meet businesspeople in a relaxed environment.
You are free to join other groups and aren’t required to go each week. You come and go
as you please.
We go to these meetings as ourselves, and walk away with new business contacts,
prospects, and friends. The meetings are a mix of new and old faces: There are always
new women to meet while we get to know the regulars. Some come dressed up, some
wear jeans.
I became a TWN founding member in August. It is by far the group I have given the
most to, and gained the most from, both personally and professionally. My contacts led
me to new business and a part time job. I have resources to draw on and new sources
of products and services. We help each other.
But the best benefit is that because of Triangle Womens Network, I am no longer afraid
to network.
