I help small and mid‑sized businesses elevate performance by empowering their employees with the skills they need to thrive. This mission isn’t a marketing line; it’s genuinely what gets me out of bed every morning. Of all the roles I’ve held in law enforcement and retail, training has always been my first love.

Growing up, I spent my days tumbling off every surface in the house (still a gymnast), repeatedly kicking a soccer ball against the garage wall (apologies to the neighbors), “arresting” invisible suspects (usually as Officer Poncherello from CHiPs - female action‑role models were in short supply), and, of course, “teaching” a full classroom of stuffed animals lined up in neat rows across my bedroom floor. Yes, there was a chalkboard. Yes, attendance was mandatory.

That last hobby turned out to be prophetic. Every job I’ve held since age 17 has involved teaching colleagues and anyone who needed to learn the task at hand. Apparently, the hours I spent lecturing teddy bears were a solid investment.

My role as a trainer happened by accident. A manager saw skills in me that I hadn’t yet recognized. My enthusiasm for learning and my instinct to share information with others stood out long before I understood that training was a real career path. My first manager tapped me to train new employees, and by the time I became a police officer, teaching had become second nature. Law enforcement culture thrives on shared knowledge, and I loved contributing to it.

That passion expanded into process improvement and even authoring user manuals for the software our teams used. When training became my full‑time responsibility, I knew I’d found my professional home. I taught anywhere my department would let me, internally, at colleges, and in partner organizations.

Each time I stepped away from training to explore another aspect of law enforcement, I inevitably found myself pulled right back in. Learning and development wasn’t just something I did; it became part of who I am. I strengthened that identity through formal education, professional certifications, and work as an adjunct instructor. And honestly? I became hooked on that moment when a learner uses a new skill, and you instantly can see how it benefits them and the organization they serve.

That’s how DeCaro Consulting was born. Training and developing job skills aren’t just services I offer; they’re woven into my professional DNA. So now that you know my story… how can I help your team build the skills that empower them to feel accomplished and contribute at their highest level?
